I have been thinking about what topics to include in an upcoming Facebook live stream video. I posted the question on Facebook last week, and you told me that you wanted to know more about cabin life. Specifically, our life here at The Laughing Cabin. This inspired me to take you on a live stream tour inside our home, one room at a time.
Doing a live stream video is not difficult, but there is some preparation involved. Setting up the camera and making sure there is adequate lighting is the first priority. Getting a good internet connection is the most important. Here in the mountains, the connection is very fickle. If the wind is blowing from the right direction and the sun is shining, there is a good chance there will be a strong signal. Or so it seems.
The Laughing Cabin is very small as far as cabins go. It’s small in the sense that it’s very cozy, and that’s what adds to the overall charm. Walking through our house would only take two minutes, and that would not make for a very interesting video. However, our home is not an ordinary one. Each room has its own story to tell. This is what is going to be so fun about inviting you inside by way of live streaming. These stories will enable you to see our home through a whole different light.
Once I have the camera set up, I am going to give thought as to what to say. I don’t like to read from a script, but a little practice will help me not to get too tongue tied. It’s also important to choose the right day — and the best time of day. There is a lot of activity that goes on here during a normal week. That makes it sometimes difficult to find a few moments of uninterrupted quiet. Tuesdays and Fridays in the afternoon seem to be my best options, so these are the days when most live streams will take place.
I’ve also decided to have a GiveAway during each live stream. I absolutely LOVE to give gifts. These “gifts” will not be extravagant, but they will be fun. It will give us both an extra something to look forward to.
The first live stream tour will be staged sometime this week. I am getting ready for it as you’re reading this. I’ve decided that the “tour” will start in our kitchen. They say the kitchen is the “heart” of a home, and that’s certainly true in our home. So, you might say that I’m inviting you into our heart.
The live stream events will be announced in advance on The Laughing Cabin’s Facebook page to give you a chance to view them “live.” You will be able to view the recording afterward. I will also be creating an archive of live stream segments and have them available to view on my blog. Either way, I will make sure that you don’t miss anything. I can’t wait to “see” you!
Until next time! ~ Susan
